Love was in the air this Valentine’s Day as I had the pleasure of photographing Jim and Matilda’s engagement session in the breathtaking Osoyoos landscape. The day was filled with golden light, laughter, and a few unexpected surprises that made for an unforgettable experience.
Golden Hour on Anarchist Mountain
We began our session at the top of Anarchist Mountain, where the valley below stretched endlessly, bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. Osoyoos Lake lay beneath us, covered in a sparkling layer of ice and snow, creating a dreamy winter wonderland backdrop.
Jim and Matilda embraced against the sweeping landscape, the golden hour light wrapping around them like a warm embrace. Every shot captured their excitement, love, and the undeniable magic of the moment.
A Hilarious Start at Walnut Beach Resort
After sunset, we headed back to their room at Walnut Beach Resort for some cozy indoor shots. However, upon arrival, a funny mishap added to the memories—Jim and Matilda accidentally gave me the wrong room number! When we knocked, an elderly couple answered, confused by my presence. After explaining I was there for an engagement shoot, they jokingly invited me in for a photoshoot of their own—turns out it was their wedding anniversary! We shared a few laughs, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of the sweet couple before heading to Jim and Matilda’s actual room.
Intimate & Creative Indoor Moments
Inside their suite, we captured romantic, intimate moments using off-camera flash, bouncing light off the ceiling for a soft, natural glow. Friends soon joined in the celebrations, adding to the joy and excitement of the night.
Sparklers & Nighttime Magic
To end the evening, we moved to the resort’s pool area, where I brought out sparklers for some creative nighttime shots. With direct flash, we captured stunning silhouettes, glowing spark trails, and the undeniable chemistry between Jim and Matilda. The combination of kisses, twinkling lights, and laughter under the night sky made for the perfect close to an incredible session.
